Sunday Salon: Reading Round the Islands

I'm finally back from vacation. When I pause from unpacking and all the catching up that comes with returning home, I feel a pang that I'm not still up there in Upper Peninsula Michigan, the place of my heart. It's perfect for so many reasons but how can you beat reading round the islands?

Would you want to leave when this is the view you see over the top of your book when sitting on your friend's beach?

Or if this is the view you see over top of your book at dusk sitting on picnic tables in the park when you go into town to eat ice cream?

Or if this is the view you see over the top of your book looking towards the northwest sitting on the front deck of the cottage?

Or if this is the view you see over the top of your book when sitting up by your cozy guest house?

Or if this is the view you see over the top of your book when sitting in the back of the boat anywhere in the islands?

You might not sympathize with me so much as feel serious jealousy now that you've seen the idyllic beauty but I think you'd find it every bit as hard to come home too, don't you?

  1. Oh, I am so envious of those views! Enjoy...but coming home does have its advantages. Great photos to help you savor those memories.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  2. Lovely! I took a day by myself on my way home from vacation, and wandered around Victoria, Canada, proving to myself that my idea of a perfect vacation was to find a beautiful spot, and then read there. Sounds like the Michigan lake satisfies those criteria.

  9. Yeah, I'm not really feeling the sympathy here. Your friend has a beach? You have a cottage and a boat? Sympathy, not really. ;) Hope they were good books, though. What did you read while you were away?

I have had to disable the anonymous comment option to cut down on the spam and I apologize to those of you for whom this makes commenting a chore. I hope you'll still opt to leave me your thoughts. I love to hear what you think, especially so I know I'm not just whistling into the wind here at my computer.
