Monday Mailbox

I didn't expect nearly as many books as I found in the mailbox this past week. And I'm certainly not complaining at all! The books run the gamut and should all suit my different whims and moods over the next while. This past week's mailbox arrivals:

Critical Care by Brown came from Jessica at Harper.
I love medical memoirs but I've found that they tend to come from doctors rather than nurses so this one should have a fresh and different view.

If You Follow Me by Malena Watrous came from the publisher through Shelf Awareness.
A young woman who goes to Japan to teach English as a way to escape the burden of her father's suicide, this one suits both my love of books set in other cultures and books where characters find themselves outside their native culture, fish out of water stories.

In the Wake of the Boatman by Jonathon Scott Fuqua came from Harrison at Bancroft Press.
A novel centered around a man who struggles to earn his father's approbation, denying his sexuality and becoming a hero in Vietnam, this has the makings of a serious and affecting book.

The Boy Who Loved Tornadoes by Randi Davenport came from Algonquin Books.
A memoir about the developmentally challenged son of the author, I suspect this one will be a tough read as a parent but important nonetheless to know where we fail the children who are not easily diagnosable or part of the norm.

As always, if you'd like to see the marvelous goodies in other people's mailboxes, make sure to visit Marcia at The Printed Page and enjoy seeing how we are all doing our part to keep the USPS and delivery services viable.

I have had to disable the anonymous comment option to cut down on the spam and I apologize to those of you for whom this makes commenting a chore. I hope you'll still opt to leave me your thoughts. I love to hear what you think, especially so I know I'm not just whistling into the wind here at my computer.
