Not ready for this

How to know your child is growing up? Try looking at your computer search history. Pokemon and the like used to dominate the searches around here. Now however, I find "nude." And then because that clearly gave a wealth of options too overwhelming for the little booger, he narrowed his search parameters to "nude pic of teen girls." But he obviously didn't hit paydirt until "nude pic of teen girls with no censorship." Ai-yi-yi! I remember bringing this child home from the hospital wrapped up like a baby taco. He can't possibly be old enough to be looking for computer porn!!! But a quick scan of the searches executed while he was grounded from the computer tells me that he is indeed the culprit. While grounded, no porn searches. After sentence was served? Porn searches. ::sigh:: On the plus side, his computer class at school has clearly taught him how to narrow his search quite well. Good he's using that education, now isn't it?

    It's reassuring to know that he's learning what he needs to know at school, eh? :-) *Sigh* My son hasn't hit puberty yet -- he thinks breasts are "disgusting" and he's embarrassed that he ever nursed. :-/

    Seriously though, if it's just nudity, I wouldn't worry too much.

    I don't think I'll ever be ready for it. I don't want to think about the time when they finally graduate from Club Penguin! Scary!

    It wasn't until my son moved on to college that we figured out what he was doing late nights on the computer....He is now 30... but they all do it....plus they grow up way too fast....

    We just recently went through the same thing! It is tough! Our search was "naked people". I almost fell over! Good luck, I know it doesn't help, but it IS just a phase.... a very looonnnggg one. :(

    I used to work the abuse desk for an Internet Service Provider. The sheer number of calls I've had to make to people explaining why their service was disconnected followed by the shouts of, "No ... Mom ... it wasn't me ... MOM!" Heh. Yes, ma'am, I'm sorry, but your little sweetie boy hacked Australia last night and they're peeved. I think porn is probably preferable to some of the stuff we used to have to act on. *grins*

    This was a funny post. And so TRUE! I have a 16-year-old son and we went through the same thing. Later on they figure out how to delete the search history.

    Can't say I found this post funny! Computer porn is extremely addictive if you've ever read anything about the brain's response to this kind of visual stimulation (no pun intended). It only takes a few instances to get "hooked" (with neurologic and chemical changes in the brain) and the longer it is pursued, the more graphic the stimuli must be for the same rush. It is worth while for every parent - father and mother - to research this. We've had some great programs come to speak to our parents at school which included police IT investigators on child porn, neuropsychologists etc. It is VERY EASY to block such sights. iBoss is one external way, but there are programs too such as "Covenant Eyes" to track and provide an accountability partner (parent in this case).     Oh my hilarious God!! I know this is so hard on the parents, but your post made me let out a chuckle. I think this is one of those things that every child would go through. I've thought and thought how this process can be made healthier, but it's really a fine line, don't you think?
